TCSND Sixth Form qualification provision and rationale
This statement is included in all UCAS references to help university admissions tutors understand the school context.
The Charter School North Dulwich is a coeducational, non-selective academy in the London borough of Southwark, which has the greatest proportion of social housing in England. The school's intake is from a diverse range of cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds with a significant proportion from disadvantaged circumstances. The school has 1305 pupils on roll, including 369 in the sixth form. Two thirds of students join our sixth form from our year 11 cohort, the remainder join us from other schools in Southeast London. Most students study three A levels, while 12% study a combination of A levels and BTECs. 34% of students completed an EPQ in year 12. Our UCAS predicted grades are professional teacher predictions based primarily on performance in the end of year 12 examinations, which were taken under formal exam conditions, marked using exam board mark schemes and moderated within departments and with our sister-sixth form. In some subjects, performance to date on coursework was also used, while homework and classwork was given minimal weighting in the predicted grade.

In the summer 2023 exam series, 49% of all A level grades achieved were A*/A, whilst 80% were A*- B. It must be noted that students in this year group did not sit any GCSE external exams due to the Covid19 pandemic, and their grades must be seen in the context of the raise in A level grade boundaries across many subjects.
